The Goethe-Institut Athens in cooperation with the StoryDoc and Documentary Festival AegeanDocs organized an evening of documentary films and discussions with many guests, directors, professionals and amateurs, Lesbians, and scientists who work with immigrants, refugees and socially vulnerable groups.


The life of the others.


The aim of the project was the production of 10 short documentary films made up by youth in 5 countries: Greece, Malta, Palestine, Morocco and Algeria with the theme “The life of the others”. The stories of the films are the life of different ethnic, religious groups and minorities in the 5 countries. To secure the continuity of the results and to transfer know how from the European partners to the Mediterranean ones StoryDoc, the leader of the project offered a 3 days intensive seminar in Athens where representatives of the partners NGOs trained in the subject “Educate the youths to explore and understand the life of the others”. Teachers were European experienced specialists. That seminar was the beginning.

IDENTITY AND CHARACTER

The Aegean Docs festival is funded by the local fund of the North Aegean local authority, with the support of the North Aegean University. The materialization of the production has been assigned to the non - profit cultural organization “Historical Documentary”, headed by Mr Kostas Spiropoulos who is also Artistic Director of the Aegean Docs Festival. Each festival has an island of the north Aegean as its epicentre, Lesvos for 2013. The island hosted creators and producers of special documentaries, and the projection of these documentaries and all related activities and honorary festivities and speeches. The organizers of the festival used live - streaming technology to transmit parts of the festival and its activities to the islands of the north Aegean and other islands of the Aegean, wherever it was technically possible.
The film will be screened at CineDoc on Wednesday, October 2, at 20:00 at the French Institute of Athens.
The Greek documentary “DEMOKRATIA, the Way of the Cross”, by Marco Gastine, (filmed by Katerina Patroni, Haris Raftoyannis, Christophe Georgoutsos, Nikolia Apostolou & Giannis Misouridis and edited by Chronis Theocharis) has been nominated for Prix Europa 2013  -   Developped in Story Doc 2012

The documentary "As you like it" by Paula Onet from Romania have been selected to participate at Cannes Short Corner 2013.

Another documentary which developed in StoryDoc workshop
On Monday, April the 22nd, at 20.30, there will be a screening of the documentary "A day in the life of Thanos Lipowatz" at the municipal cinema at "Palia Sfagia" in Ioannina. A discussion with the director will follow. Organized by the Cultural Center of the Municipality of Ioannina - free entry.
